International Day of People with a Disability
This week we celebrate International Day of People with a Disability. IDPWD aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with disability. The theme for 2018 is empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.
Here at Dialogue in the Dark, we aim to promote the diverse skills and talents of people with blindness and low vision. Understanding how people with blindness and low vision navigate through the world is the first step to changing attitudes and building a more inclusive society, recognising that we are all different and unique.
To open up this important conversation, CEO of Guide Dogs Victoria, Karen Hayes joined Jon Faine and Hetty Kate on ABC’s Conversation Hour this morning to discuss just how Dialogue in the Dark is working towards creating a more inclusive society for people with blindness and low vision.
